Synthesis Dance Center is dedicated to providing high-quality dance training and creative arts professionalism to children and teens. Our goal is help to build individual character and ensure the continued cultural vitality of the community.
Since 1996, Synthesis has trained over 500 students, and produced over 30 dance productions, showcasing the work of some of the most talented Los Angeles choreographers. Synthesis has also trained numerous students who went on to professional careers on the stage and the big screen.
The Academy is a training ground for students, ages 2-13, who are interested in exploring various dance styles and for students who are already focused on a particular discipline in dance. Beginning with pre-level and continuing through advance, the Academy provides children with an opportunity to explore the world of dance, learn and experiment with technique, and to enrich their appreciation for various forms of dance.
Synthesis offers a variety of dance programs throughout the year, tailored to fit children schedule and lifestyle.
OPEN LEVEL DIVISION
The Open Level is a recreational program designed to train students in becoming well-rounded dancers. Open Level classes include Creative Movement, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, and Gymnastics and are based on the students age and level of experience.
CONSERVATORY DIVISION
The Academic program is a pre-professional division designed to provide dance training that meets the highest artistic standards to prepare students for a career in dance, should they chose to pursue this path. Students will receive extensive training in Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Character, Contemporary, Pointe, Partnering, and Choreography.

Our Open Level classes are wonderful artistic outlets for youth that not only utilizes creativity and talent but also teaches discipline. Synthesis’ faculty believes strongly in the importance of dance when building character and self-esteem. We guarantee a positive and productive learning environment and offer a variety of classes for children and teens from beginner through advanced levels.
The Open Level is a recreational program designed to train students in becoming well-rounded dancers. Open Level classes include Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Modern, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Jazz Funk, Breaking and Acro Dance and are based on the student’s age and level of experience. Each student will have an opportunity to perform in annual recitals, competitions, and other events.
TODDLERS ages 2-3
This fun dance class is specifically designed for children between the ages of 2 and 3. The Toddler level is a great introduction to dance for children who are just developing their basic coordination, balance and skill. Teacher will guide young students through movement exercises, games, stories and other activities in a way that makes discovering the joy of dance, easy and fun!
PRE-LEVEL ages 4-6
Pre-level classes are designed to foster creativity, freedom, expression in movement, and encourage a love for dance. Classes include basic concepts that are found in higher levels of dance training, including socialization skills such as turn-taking and following instructions, exploration of movement qualities, musicality, and coordination. These concepts will enhance the development of their mind and body and establish discipline that is often reflected in children’s behavior in school.
Our carefully designed curriculum for Pre-Level students offers a unique introduction to Pre-Ballet, Creative Movement, Pre-Jazz and Hip-Hop through animated song and dance activities. Students will also enjoy fun, creative elements such as stories, games and other imaginative activities that keep the pace of the class lively and engaging.
*We strongly suggest that the parent or guardian who accompanies pre-level students stay on the premises during the class, in case your child needs care or attention beyond what we can provide. If you need to leave for any reason, please make sure the front desk can reach you.
BALLET/JAZZ/MODERN/TAP/HIP-HOP CLASSES ages 7 and up
For children 7 years of age and older, Synthesis offers an exciting open division program dedicated to defining Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Modern, and Hip-Hop in its highest form. Students will develop a strong technical base while experiencing a broad range of choreographic styles. Students enrolled in our Ballet and Jazz classes find that it greatly enhances their range of style, particularly in learning choreography that requires strong, sharp movements.
Many of our students are simply drawn to the excitement and fun of these upbeat classes, and are pleased to discover the physical benefits, increased flexibility and gratification of the continued improvement in the art of dance.
THE ETHNIC DANCE LOOP ages 10 and up
Synthesis presents the ethnic dance series program. It is about the preservation of traditional dances derived from different cultures and ethnicities. This program includes authentic traditional dance series ranging from Russian, Greek, Armenian, Middle Eastern dances such as Belly Dance, Arabic, Chinese, Indian, Hot Brazilian and Polynesian dance. Our unique selection of ethnic dances will create an extraordinary lifetime and learning experience. Our Ethnic Dance Loop students will learn traditional and fusion Ethnic Dance forms during a three-month period. Students will also have an opportunity to learn choreography that will be performed in a recital performance.

A $25 fee will be assessed for reversals (chargebacks) made by person resonsible for payments. If account remains delinquent beyond 30 days, additional fees may be applied.

Payment policy
Tuition must be paid by automatic bank account debit or automatic credit card payment. Tuition will be debited from your bank account on the 1st day of each month or charged to your credit card the 1st day of each month. Payment must be made by pre-authorized automatic monthly payment signed in-person at the office.
All charges will appear on your bank or credit card as Synthesis Performing Arts, Inc.
Withdrawal and Refunds
There is a two-month minimum for all group classes. One-month notice from the first of the month is required to discontinue any class. Withdrawal must be done in person and will not be accepted over the phone.
To withdraw from classes a parent or guardian must:
1. Inform school administration in person, and
2. Complete and sign a withdrawal form provided by the school office.
All automatic bank debiting or credit card charges will stop after the one-month notice period. Synthesis Dance Academy reserves the right to terminate lessons to any students without notice.
ATTIRE
DRESS CODE FOR EACH CLASS IS MANDATORY
BALLET:
Girls - Black leotard, pink tights and black or pink ballet slippers (girls must have hair in a tight bun)
Boys- Back bike shorts or tights, a white t-shirt, and black ballet slippers. Socks are optional.
TAP: Synthesis T-shirt, loose fitting pants and tap shoes
JAZZ: Synthesis T-shirt, jazz pants and jazz shoes
HIP-HOP: Synthesis T-shirt, loose fitting pants and sneakers (knee pads suggested)
IMPORTANT: Street shoes, clothing, boxers, T-shirts or jewelry are not permitted in class.
(We encourage student dancers to donate their old shoes to fellow students who are growing into the next shoe size)
ATTENDANCE
Attendance will be taken every day, in every class. Students arriving more than 15 minutes late may not be admitted to their class, at the discretion of the instructor.
MAKE-UP CLASSES
No make-up will be given for unexcused missed classes unless absence is due to serious illness and 24 hour notice has been given to the school office. Make-up lessons will be limited to 2 per teaching year and will require a doctor's notice. No refunds or credit are given for missed classes.
CLASSROOM ETIQUETTE
We expect you to RESPECT your instructors, your studios, and your fellow students. Disciplinary action may be taken if you do not act appropriately
DRESS CODE MUST BE MAINTAINED FOR EACH CLASS. You will not be allowed to participate if not properly dressed for class.
If you are late to class, you must ask your instructor for permission to participate in the class. If the instructor does not allow you to participate, you cannot leave. You must sit quietly and watch the class
Cell phones should be turned off prior to the class
NO jewelry is to be worn in class at any time
NO talking is allowed in class
NO gum chewing at any time during class. Gum should be disposed properly before the class
No Food or Drink allowed in the studio (except bottled water)
No Street shoes are allowed on the studio floors

Students must use the stairs. Elevator use is for adults and injured students only!
SYNTHESIS PARTIES AND EVENTS
BIRTHDAY PARTY
The last Sunday of every month, Synthesis celebrates the Birthdays of students who were born in that month! Birthday parties will be planned and organized by a professional party planner. And, will include food, beverages, a DJ, dancing, games, and lots of fun. Everyone is invited, but a special invitation will go out to our students of the Month.
Please sign-up for the event in advance so our staff has sufficient time to prepare. A $15.00 per person fee is required for admission to the event.
HALLOWEEN PARTY
Students, parents and siblings are all invited to dress-up in their spookiest costumes and join us for a special Halloween party! There will be a Best Costume Contest followed by music and live performances by our students. This spooky bash will include pizza, beverages, a DJ, games, and lots of fun.
Everyone is invited! Please sign-up for the event in advance so our staff has sufficient time to prepare. A $15.00 per person fee is required for admission to the event. Admission for children under the age of five is free.
CLASS OBSERVATION DAYS (dates TBA)
Throughout the year, we will open our classrooms to parents, siblings, grandparents, family, friends and neighbors (no pets please!) for special class observations. This opportunity gives our students the exciting opportunity to perform and allows family and friends to experience our students talents and achievements.
TALENT SHOWCASE AND NEW YEARS PARTY (date TBA)
Students are welcome to sign-up to showcase their talent and creativity during the Synthesis Talent Showcase and New Years Party. Students may choose from any form of performing arts such as singing, dancing, or acting and can perform either solo, in a duet, or in a group. Students will work independently on their performances to demonstrate their talent and showmanship.
Parents, siblings, grandparents, family, friends, and neighbors (no pets please!) are invited to our special Talent Showcase followed by our New Years celebration. This event will be planned by a professional party planner and will have an abundance of food, beverages, and lots of fun!

Students will receive extensive training in Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Character, Contemporary, Pointe, Partnering, and Choreography. Students will have an opportunity to learn choreography that will be performed in recitals, national and international dance competitions, and festivals.
We integrate discipline, beauty and grace into our Conservatory training program. Our classes are divided by levels based on students' age and experience.

PRE-LEVEL (P1 AND P2) ages 4-6
The Pre-Level program is designed to inspire the young child's natural desire to dance. Our carefully planned curriculum is presented in a fun and entertaining way, which enhances coordination, musicality and creative ability. Synthesis offers a variety of classes that appeal to each child’s individual personality. Our Creative Dance and Pre-Ballet classes are specifically designed to develop the motor skills of students aged four through six years old, preparing them for the traditional dance class by helping to instill proper etiquette and a love and appreciation for the art of dance.
J UNIOR LEVELS (L1 AND L2) ages 7-12
At the Junior Level, Synthesis provides a friendly, nurturing environment where we recognize student’s creative talent and incorporate them into the disciplined art of classical Ballet. Whether a student is working toward a career in dance or enjoys dancing as a rewarding extra-curricular activity, only the finest and most proper instruction is provided for a young dancers changing body. As in any quality dance academy, we strongly recommend that students seven years and older take at least two Ballet classes a week to receive the maximum benefit of the program.
SENIOR LEVELS (L3 AND L4) ages 13-17
Our Senior Level is specifically designed to develop pre-professional career oriented dancers. Selected students attend daily Ballet technique and Pointe classes and have the opportunity to learn choreography from various classical and contemporary masterpieces. In addition to their comprehensive class schedules, rehearsals, performances, master classes and special events, senior level students benefit from developing more personal relationships with the Synthesis faculty who offer professional guidance towards programs, scholarships and career opportunities.

The Youth Pop Musical Stage Series is an infusion of novel and modern adaptation from Broadway Musicals. Students will appreciate its unique blend of acting, music and dance based on a new generation of Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, and Vocals. The fundamentals and techniques offered in this program will compliment the wide selection of colorful choreography and new repertoire that students will perform on the stage at end of the year.
STAGE SERIES: SPORTDANCE/BALLROOM AND LATIN DANCE
Youth: 10-16 years old | Saturdays | Class time: 10:00am-1:30pm | Monthly fee: $250
SportDance is a beautiful combination of Traditional Ballroom and Latin Dances that attracts students who are passionate about competitive dance. Our professionally trained teachers will provide students with the fundamentals necessary to learn and continue to develop their skills in this dance form. Our high-energy staff will also keep students coming back to learn and achieve more!
Students will have an opportunity to perform at Ballroom Competitions and in the Synthesis recital at the end of the year.
STAGE SERIES: HIP-HOP SHOP
Youth: 10-16 years old | Saturdays | Class Time: 10:00am-1:30pm | Monthly fee: $250
This program includes the universal style of Hip-Hop dance that has been adapted and expanded into many new forms seen all over the world. In this progressive Hip-Hop Fusion series we promote the fundamentals of Street Dance, Poppin’ and Lockin’, Breakin’, Groovaloo, Krumping and Flash Mob; where students will learn the best choreography from highly acclaimed musical artists such as Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Prince as well as dance sequences from the best dance movies.
MISSION STATEMENT
The goal of the program is to develop highly-trained, competitive, triple threat performers who wish to pursue a career in the Entertainment Industry. Its our hope to inspire audiences, artists, and students through high quality performance and educational experiences. Led by our staff of arts educators and industry professionals, this program is designed to develop the mind and body in a creative, fun and focused atmosphere.
Talents who invited to join the program will be given professional level instruction in all areas of theatrical performance including Singing, Acting, Improvisation, Comedy and Dance. The program is highly competitive and is appropriate for youth 12-18 years of ages who wish to pursue a career in performing arts and are preparing to enter a College or University Performing Arts Program or to those currently pursuing a career in performance.
PROGRAM DETAILS
The program will be held every Saturday 11am-3pm starting March through June.
Artists enrolled in the program will take various technique classes taught by Industry Professionals. Additionally, all members of the program will learn audition technique, build a performance and audition repertoire and receive individual attention during master classes and coaching sessions. From beginning to end, the workshop is structured to give the performers the experience of being in a Company on stage, working together through a Company warm-up, rehearsal, coaching, notes and final performances. Repertoire selected will be from Broadway, Pop and Rock and Roll. Artists will be given the opportunity to perform in Industry Showcases featuring invited Agents, Talent Managers, Casting Directors and Celebrity Guests. Artists will also participate in master classes taught by industry guests including various Broadway Performers, Television and Film Actors, Choreographers, Talent Representatives and Casting Directors. The workshop will culminate in an end of the year concert in which all talent will participate.
The cost for the program is $350/monthly. This includes all classroom instruction, master classes, theatre rentals, materials, props and sheet music. It does not cover the cost of dance attire or shoes; however the studio will have dancewear and shoes available for purchase for a nominal fee.
